Ohlins Rear Shock RT
The TTX system was designed by รhlins development engineers to eliminate the risk of cavitation in the shock absorber. The plan worked. Thanks to a well thought-out pressure balance of the TTX technology, the risk of cavitation in the shock absorber could be banned.
The “TT” stands for “Twin Tube”, i.e. the two-tube design, while the “X” in the designation describes the direction of flow or the arrangement of the valves in the cylinder head of the TTX shock absorber. Thanks to the TTX technology, the pressure, which normally occurs directly above the piston, is forwarded in the direction of the cylinder head and to the controls for the compression and rebound damping.
After that, it enters the free space between the inner and outer tubes on the opposite side of the piston. All of this happens so quickly, thanks to sophisticated bores and well thought-out channel routing, that one can almost speak of a balanced pressure ratio on both sides of the piston.
The reservoir of the TTX damper is only needed when compressing and rebounding the shock absorber, either to absorb the oil that has expanded due to heating or the oil that has been displaced by the piston skirt, or to feed it back into the circuit. There is a floating piston in the reservoir between the damper oil and the nitrogen on the other side of the floating piston. The gas creates an oil pressure of six to nine bar, which basically corresponds to the static pressure on both sides of the main piston.
